London Live: An Intimate Evening of Connections

In the heart of London, a beautifully set Hook’s office, Women in Customer Success celebrated a milestone moment: our first-ever live podcast recording.
We wanted an intimate experience to allow for a real, immersive experience in the conversation and have an opportunity to ask questions in real time. The interest was overwhelming and we managed to achieve an intimate evening with 80 women who filled the room. We felt the energy that usually flows through our virtual conversations as we experienced warm smiles, genuine hugs and conversations that felt like they were years in the making.
Starting 2025 with the Intention
We believe in creating moments that matter. That's why we started our evening not with traditional networking, but with a question that made everyone pause: If you could choose one word to get you grounded purposefully for 2025, what would that be? Looking around the room, we saw women carefully selecting words from our WiCS postcards - 'presence', 'joy', 'mindfulness', 'surrender', 'focus', 'wellbeing', ‘empathy’, ‘kindness’, ‘resilience’. The conversations that followed weren't about job titles or companies; they were about hopes, dreams, and the authentic selves we often keep hidden in professional settings.
After years of witnessing burnout and anxiety in our community, we're committed to making 2025 different. Women need to allow themselves even brief moments of mindfulness and ‘doing nothing’. Each woman left with a piece of this commitment - a mindfulness colouring book and our specially selected Pukka 'Love', 'Radiance', and 'Peace' tea bags. Not a typical goodie bag with sponsor’s swag, this was a gentle reminder to genuinely take those precious moments for ourselves, even in the busy commute or stressful moments.
Daphne Costa Lopes at London Live by Women in Customer Success
All Eyes on Daphne Costa Lopes
If you're part of our podcast family, you'll remember Daphne Costa Lopes from one of our earliest episodes. Having her with us in person, sharing her journey as HubSpot's Global Director of Strategic Accounts and the founder of 'This is Growth', was simply - reuniting with an old friend on comfy armchairs.
Daphne started with her story that deeply resonated with our community, which is a beautiful mix of women from all walks of life, including expats who moved to different countries to pursue their careers, like Daphne.
She shared how her almost military-like upbringing shaped her commitment to consistently working on your activities. That was the main reason she’s been laser-focused on the ‘This is Growth’ initiative. Daphne also shared some daily practices and habits that allow her to stay focused, prioritise what matters and make time for her wellbeing and exercise.
We also found out that Daphne climbed Kilimanjaro last year as a way of ‘getting closure’ with the sudden loss of her father. The mountain became more than a physical challenge; it became a metaphor for grief, resilience, and the human capacity to turn pain into purpose.
This year, Daphne’s bold challenge is even higher - quite literally - Mount Everest Base Camp. Yes, that’s exactly how Daphne approaches everything in life. Why would she settle for ordinary hikes in the neighbourhood when she can climb the most challenging ones? We definitely recognise that character trait in the way she approaches her work, resulting in stimulating career growth and increasing influence in the Customer Success space.
By now you might be wondering, how is any of this related to Customer Success? The beauty of a live conversation is getting to know a guest on a more deeper and intimate level than what you hear or see online. That was the objective of our conversation. However, of course, we touch upon Customer Success and the latest trends. Daphne shared her prediction of shifting towards consumption-based payment models, instead of utilisation, as a result of AI evolution and penetration into Customer Success tools and methodologies.
